Ah yes... what IS going on? Long and short of it is that real estate is a cyclical business and always has been. It goes up, it peaks, it comes back down, it bottoms and comes back up again. When you look at the graphs, the good news is that the NEW peak each cycle normally exceeds the PRIOR peak! So it's a win-win if you buy and sell at the right times... but... our the specific circumstances of our LIVES don't always cooperate with what's "best" in the market, do they?
Right now, (FALL of 2008) the market timing says BUY real estate investments or UPGRADE your housing if you can do it. NOW. Why? We are at or near a bottom of the market and interest rates are FANTASTIC.... This timing is really good for doing either of those things over the long term.
