On my wishlist for Hawaii was to have a day of complete silence so I could really be more present with what's going on inside of me and the world around me. With a family and work it seems like I never really get a break from technology and conversations. So Ari and I took the day of silence. No computer, phones or talking. I was inspired by Eddie Murphy's latest movie "1,000 Words" Here is the trailer....I think it's a must see!
I learned, so much that is said that is not necessary....I love the statement of "Do not speak unless you can add to the silence". Do these words add to this moment? Are they important? Am I in a place of my past or future in the conversation? How can I be in this moment, right now?
We swam for over 4 hours with dolphins at Captain Cook's monument....and it was funny as we were swimming, a woman came up and said "Shark" (as a joke)....I broke the silence then LOL!!! At one point I had 18 dophins swimming below me!!! The MAGIC.
I got to see how much complaining I would normally do....I got super sun burned and with swimming over 3 miles, I was exhausted!! In the silence I got to practice moving from a place of pain and discomfort to gratitude and focus on more pleasant thoughts. Needless to say, the silence speaks loudly!
We check out of the timeshare today....on to our next adventure staying with friends on the Hilo side of the island!
