One of the endearing qualities that my parents have is perfectionism. They return nearly everything that they buy. Our family members joke that they should have a revolving door in their home. Before they make a purchase they expect that they'll get damaged goods. This just happened recently when they purchased a new car. Since they got the car, my dad frequents the dealership to get things fixed.
What are you expecting with your business? Are you expecting to fail? Are you thinking that you won't get clients? Are you believing that you’ll never break the six figure mark? Because if you’re thinking this way, you're setting yourself up for failure. It doesn't matter if you have a powerful vision for the business you want to create. Whichever belief is stronger will win!
Don’t aim for perfection. Everyone makes mistakes. Learn from them. In Deepak Chopra’s book Creating Affluence he says “Every failure is the seed of success. Our failures are stepping-stones in the mechanics of creation, bringing us ever closer to our goals. In reality, there is no such thing as failure. What we call failure is just a mechanism through which we can learn to do things right.”
I invite you to let go of the need to be perfect. When solopreneurs focus on being perfect nothing is accomplished. The website never gets finished. The products never get created. The programs don’t get developed. Their business is more like a hobby.
Who decides what is perfect anyway? Just let go of caring what others think about you. Let go of feeling judged. Let go of judging yourself. And stop judging others.
I encourage you to let go of expecting the worst. You also get what you expect, so why not expect the best?
