My son came out from a room in the back of our home tonight, grinning from ear to ear with excitement over something that he thought was in his words,"absolutly beautiful!" My husband and I looked at him with sheer horror as it was QUITE evident that he has found a pair of scissors and cut his hair. He is only 3 and was very proud of his ability to handle such a grown up task. The minute he saw the anger and fear on both of our faces (he nicked his ear in the process) he jubilance turned to sadness that he had done something wrong and would get into trouble. As my husband cleaned up hair, I took Jacob into the bathroom mirror, tried to soothe his emotional wound, checked his ear and tried to make sense of the haircut before me. I began to notice that he actually had done a pretty good job and I could tell by the look on his face (beaming!) he still felt it was absolutly beautiful! Most grownups are like my husband and me. We should take a lesson from our kids once in a while and we may learn a thing or two. Our perspective is just that, OURS. We need to think before we speak so as not to impose our unsolicited opinions on others. Tonight I learned the importance of just embracing anothers perspective with love and consideration. Thanks Jacob for being such a beautiful human being. Love Mom
